African Entomology replaced te Journal of the Entomological Society of Southern Africa in 1993.

Focus and Scope

African Entomology is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes original research, reviews, collections of articles on a common topic, discussions on topics of broad interest, and short communications on all aspects of entomology (including insects, arachnids, myriapods and nematodes), emphasising the advancement of entomology on the African continent. A broad range of topics in entomology are covered including, but not limited to: behaviour, biology, commercial uses, conservation, ecology, evolution, forensics, human and animal health, insect health, medical, molecular biology, systematics, pest management, physiology, and taxonomy. Submissions of work from other parts of the world will be considered if it is of strong relevance to entomology in Africa.

African Entomology is published twice a year. However, papers accepted for publication in the year 2022 onwards will follow a continuous publication policy. Accepted papers will then be published immediately after copy-editing, layout-editing and proofing, and when all article processing fees have been paid in full.
